About Us

Notre Dame Refugee Centre has been working with refugees and asylum seekers for more than 20 years, thanks to the generosity of those who share our aims and beliefs.

Notre Dame Refugee Centre was originally set up by Notre Dame de France Church in 1996, in response to changes in asylum and immigration laws that year.

Notre Dame Refugee Centre was registered as an independent charity in 2007.

Like many of our supporters, many of our visitors are French speaking, but we have welcomed visitors from 98 different countries over the five past years. We remain a bilingual English and French speaking refugee centre.

We have four Office of the Immigration Services Commission (OISC) qualified part-time staff members and a team of 40 volunteers.

We hold an Advice Quality Standard mark.

Thanks to the commitment of our staff, volunteers and donors, we offer emotional and practical support to people who often find doors closed to them elsewhere.
