World Refugee Day

On Monday 20th of June, we celebrated World Refugee Day at the centre. Each year on this very special day, we honour refugees, and people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution. It is as well an opportunity to highlight their strength and courage and recognize their resilience in rebuilding their lives.

As we all know, the past two years have been extremely challenging. This has been especially so for our clients, who have suffered even greater anxiety, loneliness and isolation. Thankfully, we have moved on from those difficult times and we are pleased to have been able to get reunited again! At Notre Dame Refugee Centre we have always focused on their welcome and inclusion and we hope to continue to work together and lift barriers to integration and continue to empower them.

The event was attended by clients, volunteers, staff members, and people from NDF. There was even a live musician!

Everybody had the opportunity to discuss and reflect on this year's theme which was "Healing". Clients pointed out the importance of having a positive mindset to overcome difficulties. They also shared tips to help others overcome hard times such as: listening to music, go on walks, start therapy etc
