Enjoying a Refugee Week Picnic in the Park
In celebration of Refugee Week which took place this year 17th to 23rd June, our clients joined us for a picnic in Green Park, one of London’s beautiful green spaces near to the Centre that we are fortunate to enjoy.
This 2024 theme was “Our Home” and we wanted to focus our Refugee Week event on coming together as a community. Through the simple act of having a picnic, clients were able to share a meal with one another and make new connections. The afternoon was filled with lots of laughter, great food and some rather competitive games of rounders and football.
After an eventful day, one of our clients said “this has made me very happy! It was nice to go to the park and have fun with my friends.”
We would like to thank all our volunteers who helped to make this a very special afternoon for our clients by preparing the picnic and joining in with the games.
Refugee Week is held every year to celebrate the contributions of refugees and people seeking sanctuary to challenge negative stereotypes and create a space where refugees can be seen and heard beyond their experience of displacement.
